The Urban web portal for water quality and quantity monitoring is operational
The Urban water portal (https://water-portal.epfl.ch), developed by EPFL-EML, aims at supporting scenario water management testing and teaching. At its current form, it includes a water quality and quantity monitoring system at the Sorge river next to the EPFL Lausanne campus and the real-time data visualisation. This data set is used to test scenarios for reducing urban runoff and water management, which is aligned with EPFL’s strategy for reducing the runoff coefficient from 0.8 to 0.3 and is replicable to other urban settings at national and international level. The water platform will be expanded to integrate the sponge-city concept for the EPFL campus.
